Matsu Nakamoto made a lot of Osaka fans happy this month. He not only put up a fine 2-2 won-lost record, he also was named the Rookie of the Month in the Western League.
In August, he made 0 starts and compiled an impressive 3.18 ERA, allowing teams to hit only .273 against him.

In August Kakuro Watanabe of Yokohama was the cream of the crop among first-year players. The Eastern League has named this talented hurler the Rookie of the Month for his remarkable performance.
He recorded 2 wins and 1 loss in 6 starts. Tossing 42.1 innings he fanned 20 and walked 17 as he compiled a solid 2.98 ERA.
