Carroll Now 3-1 After Beating Bees
Marty Carroll, who is tied for 3rd in the WL in wins with 3, was terrific for the Osaka Sailors in his team's 7-1 triumph over the Vesutan Bees. His performance earned Carroll rave reviews. The win gives Osaka a record of 12-12.

Carroll, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 4 in 9 innings and gave up 1 run.

Carroll, who finished 5th in the WL in innings pitched with 211.1 in 1971, moves to 3-1 on the year with 17 strikeouts.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Carroll told the Osaka Chronicle.
