Arai Gets 400th Home Run

It was a historic day in the life of Bungo Arai. The 37-year-old Kyoto shortstop recorded the 400th homer of his career in the Owls 7-6 triumph over the Sapporo Bears.

In the clubhouse after the game, Arai told BNN, "I was just looking for a ball to drive, and I got one."

A check of his lifetime stats shows Arai has played in 2007 games with a .289 batting average. Among his 2047 hits are 400 home runs. He has also scored 1203 runs and driven in 1176 runs.
