| Bears Suffer 5-3 Road Loss | The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
The Kyoto Owls picked up a win at Owls Park, knocking off the Sapporo Bears, 5-3. Starting pitcher Toshimasa Kobayashi played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Kobayashi. He threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Seikichi Nagamatsu. The save went to Naizen Sano, number 9 for him.
Yutaka Yoshida came through for Kyoto when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike sinker to right field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Kobayashi.
After today's action, Kyoto sits at 22-26, while Sapporo falls to 18-28.
