| Henderson Puts Spell on Santa Clara Monday, December 26th , 1949 It wasn't easy but the Matanzas Buccaneers made it look that way.
Starter George Henderson shut out the Santa Clara Stallions despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Matanzas Buccaneers cruised to victory, 2-0. Henderson allowed only 5 hits and rang up 6 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
For the year Henderson has a 1-4 record with a 7.39 ERA in 5 starts.
