| Owls Squelch Bears Offense in Shutout Win | Isoroku Furuta pitched a gem to lead Kyoto to victory over the Sapporo Bears, 3-0. The winner was Furuta. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Mario de los Santos. Kyoto now sits at 21-26, while Sapporo falls to 18-27.
The Owls got a big at-bat from center fielder Naonobu Nishio. For the game, Nishio went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Kyoto a 2-0 lead.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Nishio told the Kyoto Times.
