| Murakami Twirls 5-0 Shutout Saturday, September 28th , 1974 Akimasa Murakami of the Nagasaki Stars was on fire against the Kobe Bulls at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium. He shut them out, 5-0, on 4 hits, collecting 7 strikeouts and allowing 3 walks.
"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Murakami said later. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
In 30 starts this year, Murakami has recorded a 7-10 record and a 3.40 ERA.
