Stars Stick Falcons with 5-2 Loss | Nagasaki starter Naoto Yoshinaga pitched well against the Fukuoka Falcons at Fukuoka Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Yoshinaga yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 10. His record improves to 17-9. Masato Yamamoto, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 27th save.
Nagasaki used a well-timed hit by Binya Nishi to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Stars ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Yoshinaga. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
At 75-53, the Stars are currently second in the Western League. | |
