| Osaka No Match for Sunada Thursday, September 5th , 1963 All went well for Tadaatsu Sunada of the Vesutan Bees as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 5-0, over the Osaka Sailors, limiting them to 7 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Sunada on the day.
"Tadaatsu's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Bees manager Jim Harper. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Vesutan right-hander rang up 8 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Sailors manager Heikichi Kawasaki. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
Sunada has a 8-12 season record so far. In 25 starts, he has fanned 129 batters in 162.1 innings with a 3.88 ERA.
