 | Kingfishers Watanabe Tames Sapporo Monday, July 21st , 1975 Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Sapporo Bears as starter Kakuro Watanabe shut them out, 1-0, at Kanagawa Stadium. The Yokohama pitcher struck out 4 and walked 1 while allowing 3 hits. "Watanabe was good but he wasn't flawless," Sapporo manager Ritsuo Yoshida said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Yokohama, but this is on us."
