| Ibe Thwarts Yokohama, 2-0 Tuesday, July 15th , 1975 The Yokohama Kingfishers manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Denki Dynamics. The Kingfishers were overpowered by Denki starter Hisao Ibe, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Johnny Ruby said.
Over 9 innings, Ibe blanked Yokohama on 3 hits with no walks and 8 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Ibe said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season, Ibe shows a 4-0 record in 18 games, 43.1 innings, 26 strikeouts, and a 5.19 ERA.
