Jim Bird of the Hartford Colonials overwhelmed the Albany Knickerbockers and walked off the mound with a complete-game shutout. He blanked them, 1-0, on 4 hits with a total of 9 strikeouts and 4 walks.
"Jim was on quite a roll," Hartford manager Bob Bliss said. "He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
