| Kites Claim Late Win | The skies opened up and the rain fell at Konohana Stadium.
Ayahito Yamamoto left his imprint on the 9-4 Kinboshi win against the Fukuoka Falcons. Yamamoto, who finished 4th in the WL in batting average with .328 in 1960, was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The Kites sit in first place in the Western League with a record of 71-55.
Hirosaki, Japan-born Michihiro Kobashi came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Kites trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Kinboshi on top.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Yamamoto told the Kinboshi Chronicle.
