Stars Rally Late to Nip Kites

Both teams had their chances, but the Nagasaki Stars eventually prevailed.

The Nagasaki Stars beat the Kinboshi Kites, 7-6, at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium. The Stars got a fine performance from shortstop Binya Nishi, who was 1 for 5 with a home run. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Toshio Iwamoto picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Kinya Kodama suffered the loss.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Nagasaki trailing 6-5, Nishi hit a splitter from Kinya Kodama for a 2-run home run, giving the Stars the walk-off win.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Nishi.

The triumph puts Nagasaki at 64-54 for the season.
