Though he had a stellar game, Sotatsu Sato could not prevent his team, the Osaka Sailors, from losing, 9-5, to the Vesutan Bees. Sato went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Reliever Toshimichi Yamamoto picked up the win. His record improves to 5-6. Marty Carroll, who is tied for 8th in the WL in quality starts with 17, took the loss. The third-place Bees sport a record of 64-65.

Ichiro Hirano took Osaka hurler Marty Carroll deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run home run put the Bees on top, 6-5. In all, Hirano had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Hirano told the Vesutan Gazette.
