| Kites Suffer 4-3 Home Loss | Kinboshi pitcher Gene Walker did his part in helping his team beat the Osaka Sailors, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Walker got the win, improving to 10-6. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Kinya Kodama was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 27 save opportunities.
Sueo Shimabukuro, who led the WL in stolen bases with 26 in 1957, contributed to the Kinboshi win with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Gene is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Kinboshi manager Kaita Kurosawa.
Kinboshi now has a record of 64-53 with the win.
