| Stars Suffer 7-4 Road Loss | The umbrellas came out during the Kobe-Nagasaki contest at Matsunoki Stadium.
The Kobe Bulls defeated the Nagasaki Stars, 7-4. Doing his part was second baseman Takaki Smith, who was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Shinya Kawakami converted his 29th save in 31 tries.
Kobe third baseman Masu Osaki contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 71st hit of the season and put the Bulls ahead, 3-0.
Osaki said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
Kobe leads the Western League by 2½ games.
