| Bulls Drop Kites, 3-2, Behind Oto | Tatsuharu Oto, who led the WL in innings pitched with 243.2 in 1972, was locked in. The right-hander led the Kobe Bulls to a 3-2 win against the Kinboshi Kites at Konohana Stadium. Shinya Kawakami recorded the save for Kobe, his 16th of the season. The first-place Bulls lifted their record to 84-39.
Oto was in the zone all game. He frustrated Kinboshi hitters while giving the Bulls 8.2 innings of quality work. Oto threw 108 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 5 punchouts.
