| Stars Go Down to Defeat, 5-3 | Kinboshi and Nagasaki took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Kinboshi Kites defeated the Nagasaki Stars, 5-3, in Western League action at Konohana Stadium. Kinboshi pitcher Yasuhiko Hidaka had a standout performance. Hidaka, now 8-6, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs.
Mitsuyasu Takeno, who is tied for 8th in the WL with a .885 OPS, contributed to the Kinboshi win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Takeno.
At 59-51, the Kites find themselves in second place in the Western League.
