| Loss to Bulls Extends Vesutan Losing Streak | Behind a solid performance from center fielder Jouta Hayashida, the Kobe Bulls defeated the Vesutan Bees, 6-3. Hayashida went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times for the Bulls. Tatsuharu Oto, the winning pitcher, improved to 16-5. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Kobe goes to 62-42. The win puts them 5½ games up in their division.
Takanori Ide had a big 2-run home run for the Bulls in the bottom of the second inning. With Kobe leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a changeup from Masatoshi Sakai, who led the EL in ERA with 2.37 in 1957, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Bulls on top, 3-0.
Vesutan manager Jack Fletchings, after yet another defeat, said: "Guys need to step up. Pronto." | |
