The Vesutan Bees earned a close win over the Kinboshi Kites, thanks in part to Masatoshi Sakai. The Vesutan right-hander, who finished 2nd in the WL in innings pitched with 240.1 in 1972, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Kiyoshi Inouye finished to wrap up his 15th save. With this game in the books, Vesutan is 47-53, Kinboshi 53-47.

Akinari Nakamura had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for Vesutan. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Vesutan in front, 3-1.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Nakamura.
