| Kobe Upended by Vesutan, 2-0 | Bill Knox brought his A-game to help Vesutan defeat the Kobe Bulls, 2-0. Kiyoshi Inouye earned his 15th save, after closing out the game. The setback makes Kobe 50-38.
Taiji Miyakawa went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Vesutan. The three-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Roku Yamakawa. It was his 28th RBI of the season.
"Bottom line," said Kobe skipper Ikuhiko Murata, "we didn't play well enough to win."
