| Kites Come Up Short at Vesutan, 4-3 | The Vesutan Bees picked up a win at Fukuoka Stadium, dropping the Kinboshi Kites, 4-3. Kiichi Takahashi, who finished 2nd in the WL in wins with 13 in 1954, was the difference-maker. The win for the Bees raised their record to 38-35.
Yuuichirou Isobe had a big 2-run double for the Bees in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Vesutan leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Teruaki Koyama, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1951 draft, and swatted a double to center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bees ahead, 4-1.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Takahashi.
