| Kites Tagged with 8-5 Loss | Wet weather did not postpone the Nagasaki-Kinboshi ballgame.
The Nagasaki Stars racked up a win at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium, bumping off the Kinboshi Kites, 8-5. Roku Yamakawa, who started for Nagasaki, pitched effectively for his team. The winning pitcher was Yamakawa, now 2-3. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3.
Shou Okuda had a big 3-run home run for the Stars in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Nagasaki trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Yasuhiko Hidaka and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Stars on top, 3-1.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Eddie Roseman said.
The Western League-leading Stars are 37-25.
