| Bees Tagged with 4-2 Loss | The Fukuoka Falcons got a strong performance from pitcher Rei Matsumura. Gimmick stymied the Vesutan offense en route to a solid, 4-2 win at Fukuoka Stadium. Shinpo Yamasaki earned save number 8 this season. After today's action, Fukuoka sits at 31-36; Vesutan slips to 33-34.
Ayato Sugiura, who finished 3rd in the WL in batting average with .316 in 1971, took Vesutan hurler Toshimichi Yamamoto deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run home run put the Falcons on top, 4-2. In all, Sugiura had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Fukuoka manager Kamlyn Kadota.
