| Kites Drop Sailors, 3-2, with Late Score | Kotei Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Kinboshi Kites and Osaka Sailors.
The Kinboshi Kites had to overcome a good performance from Osaka pitcher Natsuhiko Sugiura to claim a 3-2 win at Kotei Stadium. Sugiura went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Kinya Kodama, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Kinboshi used the timely hitting of Mitsuyasu Takeno to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Kites on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Takeno.
The win for the Kites lifted their record to 31-31.
