Stars Pull Out Late Win, 5-4 | The Nagasaki Stars picked up a win at Matsunoki Stadium, taking down the Kobe Bulls, 5-4. Starting pitcher Naoto Yoshinaga was a big reason why. Yoshinaga picked up the win for Nagasaki, going 8 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 8-4. Masato Yamamoto, who finished 2nd in the WL in saves with 18 last year, nailed down the save.
Had Ienari Fujimori not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Fujimori hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Stars.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Yoshinaga told the Nagasaki Citizen.
The Stars raised their record to 32-26. | |
