Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Kinboshi Kites take on the Nagasaki Stars.

Nagasaki pitcher Shinsaku Shiraishi had a large part in his team beating the Kinboshi Kites, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The win was credited to Tetsushi Kondo in relief. His record improves to 7-7. Matoba Miwa took the loss.

Nagasaki used the timely hitting of Kohei Bai to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stars on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Shinsaku mixed and matched," said Nagasaki manager Okura Ichimura.

With the win, the Stars improved to 40-45.
