Bulls Suffer 9-5 Road Loss
Kobe got a terrific game from catcher Kouyuu Kira. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Vesutan, 9-5. Kira was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Tsuneo Oda, the winner, improved to 4-6. He held the Bulls to 3 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The Bees improved their record to 28-28 with the win over Kobe.

Taiji Miyakawa had a big run-scoring double for the Bees in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Vesutan leading 4-3 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Arata Komatsu, who finished 3rd in the EL in ERA with 2.94 in 1956, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bees ahead, 5-3.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jack Fletchings said.
