| Kites Drop Sailors, 3-2 | Kinboshi and Osaka duked it out and the Kites came out victorious.
In a low-scoring contest between the Kinboshi Kites and the Osaka Sailors, Keiji Tamura was the X factor. The Kinboshi right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Tamura yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-6.
In the bottom of the third, Kinboshi right fielder Kesanori Kikuchi had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Osaka hurler Marty Carroll, Kikuchi hit a sacrifice fly. That made the score 3-0, Kinboshi. For the day, Kikuchi drove in one run.
"Ah," said Kikuchi in a jubilant clubhouse, "the sweet smell of victory!."
The win makes Kinboshi 26-23. | |
