The Fukuoka Falcons beat the Kinboshi Kites, 7-3, at Konohana Stadium. Fukuoka first baseman Yasuhiko Kawasaki had an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The setback makes Kinboshi 23-22.
Iwao Yamamoto had a big 3-run home run for the Falcons in the top of the fourth inning. With Fukuoka leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a splitter from Keiji Tamura, who finished 3rd in the WL in innings pitched with 220.1 in 1971, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Falcons on top, 5-0.
"I expect to pitch a complete game every time out," said Yamamoto.
