Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Kinboshi Kites and Nagasaki Stars.

Koson Mitsunaga, despite pitching a good game, was disappointed in the outcome: a tough, 3-0, defeat for the Nagasaki Stars at the hands of the Kinboshi Kites at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium. Kinboshi pitcher Kyuso Ikeda earned the win, hiking his record to 5-2. Koson Mitsunaga suffered the loss. Matoba Miwa got the save, the 1st for him this season.

The Stars had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Kites going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the three-time All-Star Korenaga Kurosawa came to the plate. Kurosawa hit a solo home run on a 1-0 fastball from Nagasaki hurler Koson Mitsunaga. It was Kurosawa's 5th home run of the year.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Kurosawa told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."

The 4th-place Kites are 21-21.
