| Kobe Slaps 5-3 Loss on Kinboshi | Kinboshi got a terrific game from left fielder Munemitsu Kawasaki. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Kobe, 5-3. Kawasaki was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Yoshimatsu Yamamura, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 12 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Kobe has now won 6 games in a row.
Kobe used the timely hitting of Tadahisa Ryu to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bulls on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments to the Kobe Gazette, Ryu said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
