| Bees Handle Nagasaki, Snag 9-3 Win | Good production from first baseman Shougo Iwai helped the Vesutan Bees topple the Nagasaki Stars, 9-3. Iwai went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Bees. Shuhei Ichikawa was the winner. He's now 2-2. The loser was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Johnny Travis. By defeating Nagasaki, the last-place Bees improved to 13-18.
With Vesutan leading 6-3 in the top of the eighth, Iwai hit a splitter from Nishiki Teshima for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Bees ahead, 9-3.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Iwai told the Vesutan Gazette, "and we played pretty well tonight."
