Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Vesutan Bees take on the Osaka Sailors.

Behind the bravura of second baseman Tomohito Takahashi, the Osaka Sailors topped the Vesutan Bees by the score of 6-4. Takahashi went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Sailors. Vesutan is 5-5 after the defeat.

Bunmei Matsumura came through with a big-time hit for Osaka. The third baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Osaka manager Bill Sherrill said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
