| Bees Slap 3-2 Loss on Kites | Fans watched the Vesutan Bees and the Kinboshi Kites fight to the finish.
The Vesutan Bees rode a solid performance from 32-year-old starting pitcher Tsuneo Oda to a win, beating the Kinboshi Kites, 3-2, at Konohana Stadium. Oda got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Kiyoshi Inouye was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Vesutan needed the clutch hitting of Shuuhei Yamashita to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bees on top, 3-2. For the game, Yamashita had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Yamashita.
Now 4-6, the Kites have gotten off to a poor start.
