Kites Spoil Opening Day for Bees, Their Fans
The 1963 season began for the Vesutan Bees with a loss to the Kinboshi Kites at Fukuoka Stadium. The final score was 7-5. Kinboshi catcher Hiroji Orido had a fine performance. Kinboshi pitcher Keiji Tamura got the win. He's now 1-0. Tadaatsu Sunada was tagged with the loss. Kinya Kodama, who finished 2nd in the WL in saves with 20 last year, nailed down the save.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Kitahachi Masuda? The Kinboshi second baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Kites on top, 1-0. For the game, Masuda had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Orido told the Kinboshi Chronicle.
