| Bears Pocket 2-1 Win Against Kyoto | The Sapporo Bears used a great performance from Yoshifumi Kuramoto, who is tied for 10th in the EL in innings pitched with 205.2, to beat the Kyoto Owls, 2-1, at Sapporo Stadium. Shinichi Kanehara was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 27 save opportunities. The defeat makes Kyoto 75-63.
Sapporo first baseman Masao Shiotani contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a cutter to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 82nd hit of the season and put the Bears ahead, 2-0.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Kuramoto.
