| Reliables Take Down Owls, 3-2 | The Hosho Reliables did just enough to sneak past the Kyoto Owls, 3-2, at Nagoya Minami Stadium. Hosho pitcher Hod Taylor Jr., in particular, had a standout performance. Taylor Jr. picked up the win for Hosho, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 4-5. The second-place Reliables are 68-59.
Jokichi Kono, who is a three-time All-Star, took Kyoto hurler Toshimasa Kobayashi deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 3-run home run put the Reliables on top, 3-2. In all, Kono had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
