| Hosho Slaps 7-5 Loss on Kyoto | The first-place Hosho Reliables took on the Kyoto Owls in front of a spirited crowd.
With left fielder Hank Dunham leading the charge, the Hosho Reliables defeated the Kyoto Owls, 7-5, at Nagoya Minami Stadium. Dunham, who is tied for 8th in the EL with a .291 batting average, went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Takashi Masuda, the winner, is now 13-7. He struck out 2 and walked 2 over 5 innings, while allowing 5 runs on 6 hits. Motomu Taira nailed down his 17th save.
Hosho third baseman Billy McCullough made an impact. He drilled a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. For the game, McCullough went 1 for 5, while adding 2 RBI.
"The division is still up for grabs, but I like our chances," McCullough told the Hosho News.
The Reliables go to 81-54, putting them first in the Eastern League.
