| Owls Trip Bears, 4-3, in Extra Innings | The Kyoto Owls picked up a win at Sapporo Stadium, knocking off the Sapporo Bears, 4-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for Kyoto was right-hander Takamitsu Fujiwara. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Kyoto bumps their record to 72-53 with the win.
Kyoto used the timely hitting of Toyohiro Wada to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Owls on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Takamitsu had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Kyoto manager Tomoya Nagao.
