| Owls Get 7-2 Win Versus Yokohama | Kyoto and Yokohama put this game in the books despite some rain.
The Kyoto Owls defeated the Yokohama Kingfishers, 7-2. Doing his part was catcher Hiroshi Yamashita, who went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Norikazu Takai. He tossed 102 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits.
Yamashita contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Kyoto in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Yamashita took a cutter from Motokazu Oyama and stroked the home run to left. His 33rd home run of the season allowed the Owls to leap in front, 5-2.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Yokohama manager Masayoshi Nozawa.
Kyoto is now 67-50, while Yokohama is 46-71.
