Hosho right fielder Samba Nitta helped his team beat the Sapporo Bears, 5-2. Nitta went 4 for 4 for the Reliables. Earning his 36th save of the year was Motomu Taira. The Reliables lead the Eastern League by 10½ games.

Nitta had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Reliables went on to win.

"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Nitta.
