| Reliables Held in Check by Bears, Lose, 7-1 | Pitcher Tomochika Takada was sensational for the Sapporo Bears in his team's 7-1 triumph over the Hosho Reliables. Takada picked up the win, and it was well-earned. The winning pitcher was Takada, now 13-8. He tossed 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 6. The 5th-place Reliables now sit at 55-59.
Sapporo won the game in part because of Shinichi Takahashi. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Bears ahead, 4-0. For the game, Takahashi had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"My gosh almighty, Tomochika was tremendous," said Sapporo manager Kenjiro Hirata.
