| Rams Go Down to Defeat, 3-1 | The Kyoto Owls defeated the Rakisuta Rams, 3-1, in Eastern League action at Owls Park. Kyoto pitcher Norikazu Takai had a standout performance. Takai yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 14-7. Matashichi Matsunaga, who is rated as the 26th best prospect by BNN, nailed down the save.
The Owls got a big hit from first baseman Sukeichi Onodera. In the bottom of the sixth, Onodera smacked a 2-run home run off Rakisuta pitcher Yoshimatsu Shiina. It was his 9th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Owls were ahead, 2-1.
"Norikazu knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Kyoto manager Tomoya Nagao.
By defeating Rakisuta, the second-place Owls improved to 61-48.
