The umbrellas came out during the Rakisuta-Sapporo contest at Sapporo Stadium.

The Rakisuta Rams dealt the Sapporo Bears a 4-2 loss at Sapporo Stadium. Takanori Matsui, who finished 3rd in the EL in stolen bases with 18 in 1967, went 2 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Sadatake Suzuki snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Taishi Yoshimura suffered the loss.

The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Matsui delivered big-time for Rakisuta, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Taishi Yoshimura. The game-changing hit put the Rams on top, 4-2.

"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Sapporo manager Ritsuo Yoshida.

The 5th-place Bears have dropped 4 straight games.
