| Reliables Victors, 4-3, at Sapporo | The Hosho Reliables picked up a win at Sapporo Stadium, knocking off the Sapporo Bears, 4-3. On the mound for Hosho was right-hander Shihei Saito. He played a key role in the triumph. Motomu Taira recorded the save for Hosho, his 29th of the season. The defeat makes Sapporo 41-59.
Hosho used a clutch at-bat from Hank Dunham to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Reliables ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Saito.
