Behind an impressive start by Yoshimatsu Shiina, Rakisuta beat Kyoto, 2-0. Shiina yielded no runs over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 10-5. Sadato Hayakawa got credit for the save for Rakisuta. It was his 15th of the year.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Rams had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when catcher Kuranosuke Imakake hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Kento Okada and made the score 1-0, Rams. Imakake went 1-4.

"It's Baseball 101," said Rakisuta manager Kinzo Yoshimura. "Fundamentals."

Today's win puts Rakisuta at 46-48, while Kyoto falls to 53-41.
