| Owls Suffer One-Run Loss at Rakisuta | The Rakisuta Rams scored a tight, 3-2 win versus the Kyoto Owls at Rakisuta Stadium. Rakisuta pitcher Masakado Matsuda held his own in the contest. Genya Ishii, who led the WL in saves with 18 in 1957, nailed down the save. The Rams raised their record to 49-35.
Seisaku Nishimura went 1 for 3 for Rakisuta. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Seishiro Kikuchi. It was his 53rd RBI of the season.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Rakisuta manager Bob Lester.
