| Bears Best Kingfishers in Pitching Duel | Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Sapporo Bears and the Yokohama Kingfishers. Sapporo won it, 2-1. Sapporo starter Tomochika Takada was in command. Takada picked up the win for Sapporo, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 5-8. The Bears go to 34-56 with the win.
The Bears got a big at-bat from shortstop Shikato Murata. For the game, Murata went 2 for 3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 4th triple of the season gave Sapporo a 2-1 lead.
"Tomochika was pretty good at keeping their guys off-balance," said Sapporo manager Ritsuo Yoshida.
