The Hosho Reliables beat the Sapporo Bears, 3-2. Hosho starter Takashi Masuda pitched a gem. Hosho leads the Eastern League by 8 games.
The Reliables got a big at-bat from catcher Yorihiko Kawata. For the game, Kawata went 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Hosho a 3-1 lead.
After the game, Hosho manager Shun Kawamura applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said. | |
