| Owls Top Reliables, 9-0, Behind Fujiwara | The Kyoto Owls picked up a win at Nagoya Minami Stadium, topping the Hosho Reliables, 9-0. On the mound for Kyoto was right-hander Takamitsu Fujiwara. He played a principal role in the triumph. The win makes Kyoto 45-29.
Fujiwara's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 6 strikeouts in 8.2 innings while allowing 5 hits. Fujiwara, who finished 2nd in the EL in ERA with 3.04 in 1971, goes to 7-4 on the year with 67 strikeouts.
"This team is playing at a high level right now," said Owls manager Tomoya Nagao.
